【评论】《不速之客》的心灵邀约

  一幅好的作品除了无可挑剔的技法之外,还必须能调动观者多维度记忆与感受。

  庞凯斌毕业于俄罗斯列宾美术学院,绘画的基础训练毋庸置疑,用写实具象的手法切入当代意识的人文主题,是他作为艺术家的志向与抱负。

  《不速之客》是庞凯斌这一系列创作中的一幅。作品中的女孩在与观者视觉碰撞的一瞬间,观者仿佛就就被置身在女孩对面,成了那个正在为她打开门的人。画画犹如做人,作品犹如说话,说一半留一半更能彰显艺术家收放自如的修养。画面表达的另一半留在画面之外,那扇打开的门,便是观者情景参与的界限。

  时代的背景,历史与文化的现实形态,是每个生活在当下的人们共同经历的。也就是说,来自现实生活的素材是一样的,但谁的艺术更能深入人心,流传的更为久远,就要看艺术家对素材的揭示谁会更本质,更深远。

  把女孩五味杂陈的心境揭示给观者是《不速之客》的焦点。人物的焦虑,抑郁,麻木,几近崩溃,急于哭诉的神情在娴熟的写实手法之下被表现的淋漓尽致。这种人人熟悉的沮丧感极快地缩短了画面人物和观者之间心理距离,某些时刻,自己或者自己身边的人曾经或者正在经历着。而那扇看起来不经意被安排进画面的门,其实蕴含很深的寓意。它斑驳陈旧的历史感和脏乎乎的样子,象是城中村的某处空间,和穿戴时尚的青春女孩形成比对。它说明了女孩所要哭诉的对象所处的社会位置,同时也折射自己所属的社会层面,然而哭诉也只是哭诉而已,她面对的困境或许也正是开门的人面对的。那失魂落魄的样子或许是谈了一场和自己的身份不相称的恋爱,因失恋而导致所有期望的破灭?

  二十世纪八十年代之后,中国经济飞速发展,城市化运动所带来的社会阶层的错乱,身份秩序的断裂,使多少人不再安心于原有的社会身份,幻想靠一场幸运的婚姻来改变现实的窘迫是多少女孩的梦想,幻想破灭后又不得不面对真实现实的残酷。

  熟悉是因为画家打开的视角唤醒了我们共同的感受。一个亟待拯救的灵魂,是一个时代浓缩了的迷茫;一扇打开的门,则象征着将要解答这些迷茫的出路。作为观者,我们可能看到女孩的问题所在,循循善诱的一番劝慰、说教以后,女孩也可能很快就平静下来,然而人是社会关系的总和,个人的小危机往往是时代大危机的折射,个人背后群体性终极价值的迷失,以及对普世信仰的寻找、确立和坚守,并不是找个人哭诉一场就能解决的。

  庞凯斌的深刻,就在于他能通过视觉艺术的一个点的来展开对于当下社会的广阔透视。同样,一幅画也能看出一个画家深厚的艺术潜质。在一个物质追逐不断升级的社会里,怎样放慢脚步,减少对自身的心灵伤害,从而寻找到精神解脱的自由通途,已经不是一句空话。庞凯斌以直面问题的方式提出问题,并用巧妙的情景设置把回答问题的权利转移给了观者,即使观者没能提供令人满意的答案,至少也起到了审视自身的作用。

A heart-to-heart invitation of The Unexpected Guest

  A good work must not only be equipped with impeccable techniques, but also the ability to mobilize viewers' multidimensional memories and feelings.

  Pang is graduated from Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Russia. There is no doubt that he receives the basic training of painting. As an artist, it is his ambition and goal to insert the cultural theme of contemporary consciousness with skills of realistic painting.

  The Unexpected Guest is one of the series which Pang creates. The moment when the girl in the painting contacts the viewers' eyes, the viewers are just like put opposite to the girl and become the ones to open the door for her. Painting is like conducting oneself. Creating works is like speaking. Half say half stay can manifest artists' accomplishments much more. Another half which the picture conveys is left beyond the picture. The open door is exactly the boundary which the viewers participate in the scene.

  The background of time and the real form between history and culture are the mutual things people who live in the present undergo. That is to say, materials from the real life are the same. But whose art will be more deeply rooted in people's hearts and spread further depends on whose reveal on the materials will be more essential and profound.

  It is the focus of The Unexpected Guest to uncover the girl's complicated state of mind to the viewers. The anxiety, depression and numbness of the character together with the collapsing and teary expression are manifested incisively and vividly with proficient realistic approaches. This kind of frustration which everyone is familiar with quickly shortens the psychological distance between the character in the painting and the viewers. At some time, the viewers themselves or people around them are going through it. Besides, the door which seems to be arranged incidentally into the painting actually contains deep implication. Its mottled old historical sense and dirty appearance is just like somewhere in the urban village, which is in contrast to those teenage girls who are dressed in fashion. It states the social position of the person which the girl cries for and also refracts her own social level that she belongs to. However, crying is just crying. The predicament she faces may be the same situation the openers are confronted with. Perhaps the lost and perplexed appearance is a disillusion which she falls in love with someone who doesn't match her own status and then all of her expectations are broken because of losing her love?

  Chinese economy has been rapidly developing since the nineteen-eighties. Urbanization brings the chaos of social class and the fractures of identity order, which makes so many people no longer satisfy the existing social identity. And fantasying a fortunate marriage to change the poverty-stricken reality is the dream of so many girls. While after the disillusionment of the fantasy, they have to face the cruel reality.

  We feel familiar with the painting because the visual angle which the painter opens for us awakens our mutual feeling. A soul waiting for salvation is a condensed confusion of a time; an open door symbolizes a way to solve all these confusions. As viewers, we may see the girl's problem. After a persuasive consolation and teaching, the girl may calm down very soon. While human beings are the sum total of social relations and a small personal crisis tends to be a refraction of the big contemporary crisis. The problem of the loss of the collective ultimate value behind individuals and the search, establishment and insistence of universal faith cannot be fixed through sniveling to someone.

  The profundity of Kaibin Pang lies in that he can launch the broad perspective of contemporary society through one point of visual arts. Likewise, a painting can also embody a painter's profound artistic potentials. In a society with escalating chase for materials, how to slow down the footsteps, reduce the spiritual harm to ourselves and find the free way to spiritual extrication is no longer a malarkey. Kaibin Pang raises the question in the form of facing it and transfers the right of answering the question to viewers with clever scene settings. Even though the viewers don't give satisfying replies, it plays the role of introspection for them.
